Food Lion recently donated 100 meals to Harvest Land Ministries in Hampton, Va., for the congregation to distribute to members who need a helping hand this holiday season.
A proud supporter of Harvest Land Ministry’s efforts, Food Lion store managers in the Hampton, Va., area come together to box up and distribute holiday meals to the congregation annually.
This year, Store Manager Samantha Taylor of the Yorktown, Va., Food Lion and Assistant Store Manager Erica Hayes of the Hampton, Va., Food Lion delivered the meals to the congregation.
Holiday meals donated included 100 of the following items; 10 to 16-pound frozen Jennie-o turkeys, Food Lion cut yams, cranberry sauce, Jiffy Corn muffin mix, 2-liter sodas, Food Lion canned gravy and an 8-inch Mrs. Smith's flaky crust apple pie.
Many Food Lion associates worked behind the scenes to make this donation possible. The help of Wanda Marshburn, Food Lion director of operations, Newport News, Va., store managers Wes Brinkley, Helen Spencer and Beth Duke and the Food Lion community relations team ensured that 100 community families wouldn’t go without food this holiday season.
