Food Lion partnered with the Charlotte Bobcats and other local companies to provide meals to families in need in the greater Charlotte area today. Local residents started lining up as early as 4:30 a.m. to receive a warm holiday meal for their families, which included a turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, corn, peas, macaroni and cheese, a large turkey and a Sprite.
Lines poured in for most of the morning, with the last recipients arriving around noon today. Charlotte Bobcat players and staff also enjoyed the festivities, taking opportunities to pose with some of their biggest, and littlest, fans.
Food Lion President Beth Newlands Campbell distributed food for hours, along with many other Food Lion leaders from the greater Charlotte area.
By the end of the event, more than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals were distributed to local families in need.
