Hemingway Store Manager Shannon Billingsley and Assistant Store Manager Bridgette Harrelson joined representatives from the Lowcountry Food Bank at a mobile food pantry donation the food bank was hosting near Food Lion Store 398. The associates passed out 300 $10 Food Lion gift cards the company donated to help ensure local families had access to food until their power could be restored.
“I am so proud to work for a company that looks after the community, as we have struggled to get lights, water and food to the needy,” said Billingsley. “We showed we are more than a dominate grocery seller, but also a company with a heart. It is our pleasure at Store 389 to be a part of the Lion's Roar!”
The distribution supported 375 Hemingway residents, potentially touching nearly 1200 when family members were included. At the time of the donation, nearly 1,000 homes in and around Hemingway remained without power.
