With the recent launch of Food Lion Feeds, Food Lion’s hunger-relief campaign, the company has continued to search for creative ways to help alleviate hunger in our communities.
25 Food Lion associates in Greenville, S.C., volunteered with Food Lion’s mission of eliminating hunger on Saturday, Aug. 2, as they worked with Greenville, S.C., Chamber of Commerce to pack 800 bag lunches and transport them to local feeding agencies. This #HashTagLunchBagGreenvilleSC event was part of a national movement to help local cities address hunger and food insecurity.
Food Lion Director of Operations for the Greenville, S.C., market, Dave Geater, summed up the experience in one word: “awesome.”
“To see how we’re impacting the communities we serve and to see the faces of people here today is an amazing feeling. It feels good to know that we’re a part of an organization that values and puts so much energy into serving the community,” Geater said.
Food Lion Store 2212 Store Manager Rhonda Mauldin also felt the passion of the event.
“Everyone has the empowerment to do what we did today. Any of our associates can take what we learned today to their own communities and help those who need it,” Mauldin added.
