During their Tip Off Tour on Monday, Oct. 24, The Charlotte Hornets' season buzzed to life with a fresh stop at Food Lion, its official hunger relief sponsor.
Customers shopping in the local store on Park Road in Charlotte, N.C., received a FAN-tastic surprise when they were greeted by Mascot Hugo and the Honey Bee cheerleaders. The cheerleaders gave out fan packs as customers entered the store.
Much to shoppers' delight, several players also joined in the fun, including Ramon Sessions, Brian Roberts and Aaron Harrison.
Customers' enjoyed having their grocery bags packed by Sessions, while Roberts decorated cakes in the bakery and surprised fans with his artistic ability. The teal and black cakes were quickly swooped up by eager fans.
"It was a treat to have Aaron Harrison put out produce and greet customers, said Food Lion Store Manager Jeff Stafford. "He was ready with smiles for pictures and autographs.
"I love this job, Harrison added. "The fruits look so great that I would eat all day long if I worked here."
As hunger relief partners, Food Lion and the Hornets can count on each other. Food Lion wishes the Charlotte Hornets the best in their 2016-2017 season!
