South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) food pantry in Gettysburg, Pa., can now offer their clients something they couldn't before: a choice. This choice includes fresh, healthy food alternatives the pantry was unable to offer before the local Food Lion Feeds team stepped in, as the pantry primarily offered only pre-packaged goods.
On Thursday, Sept. 15, Food Lion associates rallied together to help with the finishing touches on a food pantry makeover that transformed SCCAP. Food Lion's donation to the pantry allowed for removal of walls, new windows, insulation as well as dry wall installation and new refrigeration. These improvements will help increase capacity and actually allow for an enhanced experience for volunteers and clients.
Once the renovation was complete, the shelves were stocked by Food Lion associates and the new refrigeration unit was filled with fresh produce. The addition of new grocery carts will top off the new "choice" experience for the SCCAP clients.
