Food Lion associates worked alongside vendors from Acosta and Campbell's to cook and serve neighbors at Rowan Helping Ministries on Thursday, July 28. Over 160 individuals received a hot meal, a break from the heat and a friendly smile.
In addition to cooking and serving, Campbell's donated eight pallets of assorted soups totaling 9,600 cans. "The donation could not have come at a better time," said Kris Mueller, resource development manager for Rowan Helping Ministries. "Our shelves are completely empty of soup, due to the high demand for food in the summer months."
"Campbell's loves to give back, and we love to partner with Food Lion because Food Lion Feeds aligns with Campbell's mission to nourish our communities," said Kristen Cloninger, regional business manager at Campbell's.
Food Lion has a long history of working with and supporting Rowan Helping Ministries. So, when Food Lion's partners from Campbell's and Acosta asked how they could support Food Lion Feeds, serving and stocking the shelves at Rowan Helping Ministries was the perfect fit!
The day was filled with camaraderie and a sense of joy, as Food Lion and their business partners joined forces with the common goal to nourish their community.
At Food Lion, we believe no one should have to choose between dinner and rent. Because of the incredible partners at Campbell's and Acosta, many in Salisbury filled their empty stomachs and Rowan Helping Ministries will have soup as a choice for their clients in the future.
