Coronavirus – Important Update from Food Lion
Coronavirus – Important Update from Food Lion
Dear Neighbors,
We continue to closely monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on the communities in which we serve. For all of us at Food Lion, the well-being of our customers and associates is our top priority.
We have taken careful measures to ensure our stores are clean and allow for the practice of social distancing. Beginning last week, we started installing plexiglass panels at our registers and pharmacy counters, offering a protective barrier between our associates and customers. This work will be implemented across all 1,000+ Food Lion stores in the coming days. In an abundance of caution, our associates will also have face shields available and pharmacists will have masks to wear while giving immunizations.
Dedicated associates are performing enhanced cleaning at the registers and throughout our stores. These associates wear vests as part of their uniform, so they can be easily identified. To help stores keep up with the demand of serving you, our valued customers, and stocking shelves during this crisis, we’ve hired 5,000 retail associates since last week and plan to hire about 1,000 more. We will continue evaluating what additional social distancing measures may be beneficial to further protect our customers and associates.
Protecting our most vulnerable neighbors is important to us, so special hours are being reserved for this group beginning this past Monday, March 30. We will dedicate 7 - 8 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday for customers over the age of 60 and those identified as high risk for severe illness by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These special shopping hours will remain in effect until further notice.
We will continue doing all we can to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Thank you for the trust you put in us to nourish your families during this crisis and every day.
With appreciation,

Meg Ham
President, Food Lion
