Food Lion to Bring “Operation Grocery Drop” to Baltimore on Saturday, June 15

Retailer Will Give Away Groceries, Coupons and More at Four

Food Lion announced today that “Operation Grocery Drop” will come to Baltimore on Saturday, June 15, to donate more than 13,000 free grocery items throughout the community.

Giveaways will be held at four locations in the greater-Baltimore area, including:

•7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Food Lion will stock the pantry at the Community Crisis Center (CCC) on 725 Main St. in Reisterstown, Md., with 5,600 products. This event is open to the press. It is not open to the public.

•10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Food Lion will donate an additional 5,500 grocery items to CCC recipients at the Northminster Presbyterian Church on 705 Main St. in Reisterstown, Md. This event is open to the press. It is not open to the public.

•10 a.m. The Operation Grocery Drop truck will visit the Y of Central Maryland: Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Center on 900 E. 33rd St. in Baltimore, Md., to give away 2,200 my essentials grocery products, as well as coupons. This event is open to the public.

•11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A customer celebration will be held at the Food Lion store at 8508 Liberty Rd. in Randallstown, Md. Customers can enjoy games, samples and giveaways. This event is open to the public.

•2 p.m. until 4 p.m. A team will be at Camden Yards at Eutaw Street in Baltimore, Md., handing out Food Lion pompoms and sunglasses to fans heading to the Orioles game. This event is open to the public.

Food Lion has a longstanding history of providing food to communities in need and partnering with area food banks in its ongoing efforts to fight food insecurity and relieve hunger in our communities. By the end of 2013, Food Lion is on track to donate more than 245,000 pounds of food in these Baltimore-area markets.
