Food Lion Donates 50,000 Meals to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Honor the Local Home Team's Participation in the Ultimate Big Game

Today, Food Lion Feeds donated 50,000 meals to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina located in Charlotte, N.C., in honor of the Carolina Panthers. The company is donating 50,000 meals in honor of their participation in Super Bowl 50.
"We're extremely proud of the Panther's success this season," said Christy Phillips-Brown, Food Lion's director of external communications and community relations. "We cheered the team on throughout the season and wanted to honor their outstanding season with this donation to a cause we both support."
Last month, the company donated 49,000 meals to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to represent the number of points the team scored in the NFC championship game.
Through Food Lion Feeds, the company has committed to provide 500 million meals to individuals and families in need by the end of 2020. Since the launch of Food Lion Feeds in 2014, the grocer has partnered with Charlotte teams on hunger-relief donations through organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
