"We look forward to giving back in celebration of this anniversary!"

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Food Lion store number 40, located at 980 Kildare Farm Road in Cary, N.C., the grocer's hunger relief program, Food Lion Feeds, will feed 400 local families in the Cary, N.C., area, where the store is located, on Thursday, Aug. 6.

The donation, which will take place at Cary Presbyterian Church at 614 Griffis Street in Cary, N.C., 27511, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., will provide nearly 69,000 meals for families in need.

Each family will be provided a bag of non-perishable items like oatmeal, peanut butter, canned fruit and vegetables and canned tuna, as well as a second bag of fresh fruit, including apples, potatoes, carrots and onions.

"We're honored to have been a part of the Cary community for nearly 40 years," said Store Manager Michael Kuffuor. "We look forward to giving back in celebration of this anniversary!"

This donation is part of Food Lion Feeds' "Summers Without Hunger" initiative to provide food to families in need during the summer months and beyond.
