Food Lion Feeds Plants "Seeds of Hope" in Celebration of Arbor Day Friday, April 28

Grocer Partners With Local Food Banks Across Three Markets to Plant Community Gardens
SALISBURY, N.C. – This week, Food Lion Feeds will partner with feeding agencies across three markets including Winston-Salem, N.C., Mooresville, N.C., and Charleston, S.C., to plant community gardens in celebration of Arbor Day on April 28. These "seeds of hope" will assist these agencies in their mission to nourish the hungry in their local communities.
"Food Lion Feeds is proud to support local community garden initiatives, which not only provide a source of nutrition, but are used by food banks as an educational tool," said Christy Phillips-Brown, director of external communication and community relations at Food Lion. "The gardens teach clients how to grow their own vegetables and also encourage them to work and to give back, helping others receive fresh vegetables."
During the events, which will take place on April 27 and April 28, Food Lion volunteers will work side by side with feeding agency volunteers to weed and plant community gardens at the following locations:
