2011 CMN Food Lion Family Champion Child Mason Duke of Virginia to Attend

"Children’s Miracle Network Car and Bike Show"

Food Lion associates will host their first “Children’s Miracle Network Car and Bike Show” from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at the store on 467 Oriana Road in Denbigh, Va., to benefit the Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters in Virginia.

The public will have several options to support the Children’s Miracle Network. Attendees can buy lunch donated by vendors and enter games to win prizes such as a bicycle, pop-up tents, table top grill and beach chairs. Also, customers will have a chance to make donations onsite at the event.

“We created this family-oriented event for our customers, vendor partners and associates as a creative way to have fun and help children in need at the same time,” said Beth Duke, a store manager and organizer of the event. “I know first-hand how important donations at these events can help, because my son, Mason, visits CHKD regularly for checkups and is making progress with his therapists.”

Mason, 5, has cerebral palsy. Mason, who is a 2011 CMN Food Lion Family Champion Child will be attending the event to lend his support.

Admission to the event is free, but registration fees for car and bike owners to be entered into the show are $10. Food Lion will award the top three car and bike owners trophies and other prizes. Judging will begin at 2:30 p.m.
