A Neighborly Welcome: Food Lion to Restock Local Food Pantries in Advance of Grand Openings

Through Food Lion Feeds, Grocer Will Donate 60,000 Meals to Virginia Beach, Va., and Hampton, Va., Residents in Need
What: Food Lion is donating meals to local Virginia Beach, Va., and Hampton Va., food pantries, including Freedom Fellowship Food Pantry and the food pantry at Buckroe Baptist Church, in advance of its May 9 grand openings. The grocer will donate 30,000 meals to each organization in order to restock their shelves.
Food Lion believes it truly represents the towns and cities it serves. This donation reflects its commitment to Virginia Beach and Hampton, Va., communities. The effort also supports the grocer's pledge to provide 500 million meals by the end of 2020 through its Food Lion Feeds hunger-relief platform, because no one should have to make tough choices such as between dinner and rent, or gas and groceries.

Details: In advance of its May 9 grand openings, Food Lion is restocking the food pantries at Freedom Fellowship in Virginia Beach as well as Buckroe Baptist Church with 30,000 meals each in order to help feed those in the Virginia Beach, and Hampton, Va., areas who may be in need. The new store will replace two previous Farm Fresh grocery stores and are located at 1615 General Booth Blvd. in Virginia Beach, Va., and 608 E. Mercury Blvd. in Hampton, Va.
