Today, Food Lion Feeds and Smithfield Foods announced a partnership and donation of fresh and non-perishable food items to local families in Henderson, N.C. The donation, which is part of Food Lion’s and Smithfield’s shared mission to alleviate hunger and address food insecurity across the country, will take place Monday, April 10.

Food Lion has named Wendy Thompson its 2016 Ralph W. Ketner Store
Manager of the Year. Thompson, who serves as the store manager of the
Food Lion located at 2710 Roberts Ave. in Lumberton, N.C., was selected
from a group of more than 1,000 store managers across the company. The
grocer's Store Manager of the Year Award was renamed this year in honor
of Ralph W. Ketner, Food Lion's co-founder, who passed away in May 2016.
Food Lion is partnering with its MVP customers and vendors to help solve
hunger while offering customers the opportunity to save on their
groceries through its Food Lion Feeds "One Meal at a Time" campaign,
Feb. 22 through March 7.
During the campaign, when customers use their MVP card and purchase five
participating items, they will save $1 instantly while triggering a
donation of 11 meals* to Feeding America® and their local food
This Valentine's Day week, Food Lion Feeds will show the love to select soup kitchens doing outstanding work for their communities by recognizing them as a "Souper Star Kitchen." As part of the recognition, Food Lion associates will donate soup and other food items, as well as help prepare and serve meals for hungry families. In addition, volunteers and staff at the feeding agency will receive a special token of appreciation from the grocer.
