Food Lion is celebrating teachers by offering a 5 percent MVP discount
on their total purchase on National Teacher Appreciation Day, Tuesday,
May 8, 2018.

Carolina and South Carolina to support the 26th Annual Stamp Out Hunger
Food Drive on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Throughout the week, Food Lion
will help kick off the drive in each state by donating more than 200,000
meals total to the food
Lion has announced the company will remodel 105 stores in the
greater Norfolk, Va., market in 2018. The $168 million capital
investment will go towards remodeling the stores, lowering prices,
expanding the assortment of products, hiring approximately 5,000 new
associates and promoting current associates as well as additional
community partnerships through Food Lion's hunger-relief initiative Food
Lion Feeds. A complete list of
Lion held its third annual "Feedy's" awards Tuesday at its corporate
headquarters in Salisbury, N.C. The annual event honored food banks,
community partners and Food Lion associates who share the company's
commitment to ending hunger in the communities Food Lion serves and
helped the company donate more than 380 million meals of its 500 million
meal commitment by 2020.
What: Food Lion is donating 30,000 meals to Food Bank of the Albemarle in order to restock Albemarle Food Pantry, located on-site at the food bank in advance of its May 9 grand opening in Elizabeth City, N.C.
What:Food Lion is donating meals to local Virginia Beach, Va., and Hampton Va., food pantries, including Freedom Fellowship Food Pantry and the food pantry at Buckroe Baptist Church, in advance of its May 9 grand openings. The grocer will donate 30,000 meals to each organization in order to restock their shelves.
On May 9, Food Lion will celebrate three grand openings, bringing its long-standing heritage of low prices to three new stores in the greater Norfolk, Va., market. The celebrations mark the completed purchase of the stores from SUPERVALU earlier this year. The locations include:

Each new store will employ about 100 associates, creating nearly 300 jobs
Lion announced today that it has entered into a transaction to
acquire four BI-LO stores in the Greater Myrtle Beach, S.C., Florence,
S.C., and Columbia, S.C., areas from Southeastern Grocers. The locations
What: Food Lion is hosting four job fairs in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Williamsburg and Suffolk, Va., in support of stores these areas. The grocer is seeking applicants for approximately 100 part-time and full-time positions per fair for a total of about 400 hires.
In honor of Earth Day, Food Lion is celebrating its commitment to
sustainable retailing by releasing an infographic highlighting its
progress in 2017. Food Lion is among the leaders in the grocery industry
in sustainability. Food Lion's sustainability effort in 2017 included
donating more than 100 million meals to its local feeding agency
partners as well as recycling more than 128,000 tons of material.
