Delhaize America today announced its banners - Hannaford, Sweetbay, Bottom Dollar Food, and Food Lion family of banners, including Food Lion, Bloom, Harveys and Reid's - will operate under a new sustainable seafood sourcing program. The supermarkets will move to selling seafood from sources that are managed to sustain the availability of seafood for current and future generations.
Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food and Reid's have launched the "Hunger Has a Cure" Spring Funds Drive to support Feeding America's local food bank members. The campaign, which allows customers to donate in $1 or $3 increments, runs through May 11.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently recognized the Food Lion Family of Banners and Bottom Dollar Food with a ninth consecutive ENERGY STAR award. The award, for sustained excellence, is the company's seventh consecutive honor in this category. The company was one of 50 companies recognized in the Sustained Excellence category and among 110 overall award winners.
This Saturday, the Food Lion Family of Banners and Bottom Dollar Food will participate in Earth Hour by reducing the amount of lights used in the store's center aisle section in more than 1,300 stores for one hour, beginning at 8:30 p.m. All stores will remain open for business during this time.
The Food Lion Family of Banners and Bottom Dollar Food recently recognized the regional winners of the companies' Store Manager Excellence Award. Twenty-four store managers were honored at a recent leadership event at the companies' Customer Support Center.
From the group of regional winners, eight district winners were honored and then, an overall winner, Emory Turner of Vidalia, Ga., a store manager with Harveys Supermarkets, was selected as the overall company winner of the Store Manager
The Food Lion Family of Banners and Bottom Dollar Food recently recognized Emory Turner as the recipient of the 2009 Store Manager Excellence Award. Turner, who is the store manager of the Harveys Supermarket located at 246 South Main St., in Reidsville, Ga., was selected from a group of seven other divisional winners.

The Food Lion Family of Banners and Bottom Dollar Food are proud to join EPA's list of ENERGY STAR Leaders, an elite group of organizations that have improved energy efficiency across all of the buildings in a portfolio. To date, ENERGY STAR Leaders include organizations such as schools, hospitals, supermarkets, commercial real estate businesses and hospitality companies.
Harveys Supermarkets bagger Danny Goodwin, the 'Best Bagger in Georgia,' finished second at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Best Bagger National Championship Thursday in Las Vegas.
Goodwin, a team member at Harveys Store 2349 in Waynesboro, Ga., competed against 25 other top baggers from grocers across the country. His second-place finish was the highest ever for Harveys and the state of Georgia.
