In 2017, Food Lion Feeds partnered with Food Lion customers to provide
more than 42 million meals to families in need through the sale of
special Food Lion Feeds reusable bags sold in its stores. The grocer is
now inviting kids ages 5-14 to participate in its Food Lion Feeds
“Summers Without Hunger” Design-a-Reusable-Bag Contest. The winning
design will be featured on Food Lion Feeds’ reusable bag, which will be
sold in nearly 1,100 stores in
On Wednesday, Aug. 2, Food Lion will unveil a new, easier shopping
experience for customers in 93 stores in the greater Greensboro, N.C.,
market. The company made a significant $178 million capital investment
in the market this year, which includes remodeling the stores, lowering
prices, hiring hundreds of additional associates and giving back to
Points of Light, an organization dedicated to volunteer service,
recently released its Civic 50 list, highlighting companies that are
examples of good corporate citizenship. Food Lion was the sole retailer
on the list, which was announced at the Points of Light Conference on
Volunteering and Service in Seattle, Wash.
Progressive Grocer magazine has named six Food Lion leaders to
its prestigious 2017 Top Women in Grocery, one of the food industry’s
Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery award recognizes grocery
retail leaders who demonstrate excellence in leadership daily throughout
the industry, their stores and the communities where they proudly live
and work. The awards honor leaders in various categories. The Food Lion
Food Lion continues its support for military families by hosting its 17th annual “Thriller on the Griller” events, starting today in several North Carolina and South Carolina locations. Each event will raise funds for Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for our veterans, service members and military families. This is the eighth year that proceeds from the event will support Hope For the Warriors.
In honor of Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, Food Lion stores will offer a
10 percent MVP discount to active and retired military personnel to show
their support and appreciation for those who are serving or have served
in the United States Armed Forces.
Food Lion Feeds will help its furry friends Saturday, May 20, by donating more than 2,000 pounds of pet food to local food banks and holding a one day pet food drive in two stores in Edenton, N.C., and Greensboro, N.C.
The effort, called Food Lion Feeds Pets Too," is in recognition of National Pet Month. Food Lion made the donations earlier this week to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest N.C. in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the Food Bank of Albemarle in Elizabeth City, N.C.
