Food Lion is donating truckloads of ice, water and snack foods to assist
Jacksonville, Fla., area residents recovering from Hurricane Jeanne.
Food Lion is rushing approximately 151,200 pounds of ice, 16,800 gallons
of bottled water and thousands of packages of snack foods to Duval
County and Clay County. Working with the disaster relief teams of both
counties, the supplies will be distributed Tuesday, Sept. 28, at three

Approximately 184,800 pounds of ice, 18,480 gallons of drinking water,
4,700 pounds of snack foods, and 640 packages of juice are being
transported from Food Lion distribution centers to the Jacksonville area

The North Carolina Food Dealers Association and the North Carolina
Retail Merchants Association will merge later this year. Once the merger
is completed Oct. 1, a new N.C. Food Dealers Council will be established
within the Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA).
"Thought for food." That is how Food Lion describes its first Bloom
store, which opens May 26 in Charlotte, N.C.
The store, named, "Bloom, A Food Lion Market™," is the first of five
Bloom pilot stores to open in 2004. The stores are designed to test the
new Bloom concept, aimed at providing a simple, uncomplicated and
hassle-free shopping experience.
Food Lion LLC announces today plans to open five pilot stores to test a
new store concept, format and brand name. The pilot stores, all
scheduled to open by the end of 2004 in the Charlotte, N.C. area, will
be named, "Bloom, A Food Lion Market™."
